I met my husband at Crater Lake six years ago, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I was taking a field-study science class, which included an overnight camping trip to Crater Lake. Unbeknownst to me, my future husband enrolled in the same class! It's hard not to fall in love in the midst of such beauty.
Crater Lake will always be a magical place for us. In fact, we had a Crater Lake-themed wedding! I searched everywhere for collectible, commemorative Crater Lake plates to use in our centerpieces, and our guest book was a large framed picture of Crater Lake that everyone signed. I even had an artist commissioned to make a Crater Lake replica candle for the head table (it was a miniature version of the caldera, lake, and Wizard Island).
Every year we make a special trip to revisit the place where we met and we never tire of the breathtaking beauty. Last year, we rented snowmobiles, and it was such a treat to see the lake as we never had before. We like to think of that trip as a lesson for our marriage - make it a point to see old things in a new way.
